February is Work Party Month
Published 18:54 on 19 Jan 2026
February is the designated Work Party month at the Club. This year we have set aside Sunday 15th February and Sunday 22nd February for these activities. On both days, the work will commence at 10am. Please note that there will be no sailing on these two Sundays to allow all members to participate in the maintenance and improvement of the Club's facilities.
The importance of the Work Party
The Club relies entirely on the commitment and enthusiasm of its volunteer members. The work party weekends are a vital opportunity for everyone to contribute to the upkeep of the Clubs assets. These weekends not only support the upkeep of the facilities, but they also offer members a great opportunity to connect with others in the Club that they may not typically meet. As an added incentive, all participants will be treated to a complimentary lunch!
How to get involved
In keeping with the successful format of previous years, the Facilities sub-committee has compiled a comprehensive list of jobs which has included input and suggestions from Club members. The job list will be posted on the web site at the beginning of February ahead of the work parties. Members are encouraged to volunteer for specific tasks by filling in the jobs list volunteer column. The jobs list will be printed and posted on the day in the Bosuns Hut.
When volunteering, please remember to bring any appropriate tools, clothing, and personal protective equipment required for your chosen job, suggestions for these will be on the job list. All necessary materials will be provided by the Club.
Dinghy Show clash
We are aware of the diary clash with the dinghy show over the last couple of years. To alleviate this a suggestion is to have the second work party weekend in spring, when the weather is a bit warmer and possibly on a Saturday. I would welcome feedback on this e-mail as above.
