Current courses

As soon as we are sure we have enough instructors to run the courses we open them for booking and all members receive an email, usually a few weeks before. Please note you must be a member of Hunts Sailing Club in order to take part in any of our courses and training.

Junior Race Coaching: 18 April | 16 May | 27 June | 18 July |12 Sept | 26 Sept 2026

Junior Race coaching will be delivered by fully qualified RYA instructors, participants should have warm kit (full wetsuit or drysuit) and be at or close to stage 3 or above.

The cost for joining the session is free, club boats are available to hire at the usual rates.

RYA Level 1 Start Sailing: 16-17 May 2026

This course will cover the RYA Start Sailing syllabus, taking you from complete beginner to being able to helm and crew a boat with some assistance from our qualified instructors. It is suitable for adults and juniors aged 14 or older. Club boats are provided.

RYA Powerboat 2: 23-24 May

The Powerboat Level 2 course teaches you basic boat handling and seamanship in small powerboats. It is a predominantly practical course, with a bit of theory mixed in. Amongst other things we cover launching and recovery, high and low speed maneuvres (turning and parking) and man overboard procedure. Members only. Age 16+

RYA Level 2 Basic Skills: 23-24 May 

The natural follow up to Level 1, this course will develop your skills in a single hander dinghy, hopefully resulting in you being able to sail independently with safety cover and hire a club boat to polish your skills.

Cadet Week: 26-29 May 2026

A great week of sailing for all our junior members. We will be delivering the following RYA courses:
  • Stage 1 and 2 suitable for complete beginners
  • Stage 3 and 4 for novice sailors with some prior experience, includes tuition in single and double handers. Participants must have good sailing experience since completing Stage 2.
  • Start Racing for junior sailors wanting to progress into racing. Participants must hold Stage 3 or above.
  • Sailing with Spinnakers for those who want the challenge of using the third sail! (29th and 30th) Participants must hold Stage 3 or above.

Boat camp: 10 to 13 August

Fun and games afloat for young sailors who have a confident grasp of the basics.
