Course Booking Terms and Conditions

Application and eligibility

Courses are typically booked via the website, please ensure you book onto the right course and that your sailor meets the minimum age requirement for the course (aged 8 years) unless by prior arrangement. If you are not a club member you will need to ensure your payment covers membership of the club. Submission of the form and payment doesn't guarantee a place. You will receive a confirmation of your place once the Training Principal or Course Instructor has checked your application.

Payment

Course fees are due in full with the completed booking form for each course. Fees include instruction by RYA qualified staff, RYA logbook and course certificate upon successful completion of the course. Booking fees do not include cancellation insurance.

Refunds/Cancellation

Hunts Sailing Club reserves the right to cancel any course or activity if the numbers are insufficient or due to bad weather or staff illness. Where this is necessary a full refund will be made or an alternative course or activity offered. No additional liability for compensation or expenses will be accepted by the Club.

Booked places that are cancelled in writing by a student less than 10 calendar days prior to the starting date will result in the full fee being forfeited.

Safety

Safety is of paramount importance at Hunts. Whilst we do everything in our power to prevent injuries, water sports involve some risk and course participants, parents and guardians must accept that accidents may occur. To manage these risks, our RYA courses are run by qualified instructors who teach to RYA guidelines and our safety systems are inspected annually by the RYA. We reserve the right to change or modify any activity if we think the risks require us to do so.

Liability

Hunts Sailing Club, its instructors, committee, organisers and volunteers do not accept any responsibility for any loss damage or injury suffered by any persons and/or their property arising out of or during the course of their activities whilst training, instructing or otherwise unless such loss or damage was caused by or a direct result of negligence.

Health

Sailing is an active sport and it is the responsibility of students to ensure that they are healthy and fit to take part. Please check with your doctor if you are in any doubt. If for whatever reason, the instructor has to put a student ashore or administer first aid, Hunts Sailing Club or other employees accept no liabilities. If a health condition arises that prevents a client from taking part in a course this shall be regarded as cancellation by the client and the cancellation procedure above will apply.

Hunts Sailing Club does not provide wetsuits, suitable footwear or waterproof clothing. Students must wear a buoyancy aid (which may be loaned from the club) and must be confident in the water and must advise of any medical conditions, illness or accessibility requirements at the time of booking which we will endeavour to accommodate. The instructor has the right to refuse to take a participant afloat if clothing and buoyancy aids are not adequate for the conditions.

Own Boat Instruction

Owner must ensure that the dinghy is equipped to minimum RYA standards and is maintained in proper and seamanlike condition for the intended sailing activities. Ensure that the dinghy is fully insured for third party liability up to £5m for the duration of the instruction. Retain responsibility for the safety of the dinghy throughout. If in the instructors opinion weather conditions, safety, or any other consideration renders it imprudent to continue, then the instructors decision is final, hence does not accept liability for the consequence of delay or cancellation in such circumstances.

Certification

Certificates for courses are only issued upon successful completion of all elements of the course syllabus. Every effort will be made to ensure that students successfully complete the course but students, parents and guardians must accept that certificates will not be awarded if a sufficient level of understanding and ability is not shown throughout the course.

Complaints Procedure

Hunts Sailing Club aims to provide the highest standards of instruction to our sailors. If you have been less than fully satisfied with the service you have received, we would welcome your comments so that we can rectify the problem and improve our service in the future.

To do so please write to the Principal and send to the address or email training@huntssc.org. An acknowledgement will be sent within five working days of receipt. Your complaint will be fully investigated and a response will be sent within fourteen working days of receipt. Please note that this process should be used for comments or complaints about goods or services provided directly by Hunts Sailing Club.

By making a payment for a course you confirm that you are willing to accept the above booking terms and conditions.
