RYA Powerboat Level 2

The Powerboat Level 2 (PB2) course teaches you basic boat handling and seamanship in small powerboats. It is a predominantly practical course, with a bit of theory mixed in. Amonst other things we will cover launching and recovery, high and low speed maneuvres (turning and parking) and MOB procedure.

The PB2 certificate is recognised by centres and clubs across the country; you can also use it to apply for the International Certificate of Competance (ICC) if you want to use a powerboat abroad. The PB2 certificate is also a prerequisite for other RYA courses, e.g. Safety Boat, Dinghy Instructor and Race Coach.

• Duration: 2 days (two consecutive Saturdays)
• Minimum age: 14
  • Powerboats must be used under the supervision of a responsible adult until age 16 (certificate endorsed accordingly)
  • Youth places are typically reserved for those on the instructor pathway (i.e. doing or has done Assistant Instructor course)

Hunts SC provides powerboat training for club members intending to take on safety boat duties and/or are training as instructors; we recommend that you have undertaken at least one duty as safety boat assistant prior to joining the course. We are unable to accept applications from non-club members.

The running of all courses are subject to sufficient numbers enrolling and the availability of instructors.
