The RYA Safety Boat course teaches the use of a powerboat to effect rescues of other water users. The course covers, among other things, preparation of safety boats, boat handling, dinghy rescue and towing, windsurfer rescue, canoe/kayak rescue and assisting with race management.
This course is open to all, but you must have an RYA Powerboat Level 2 certificate already and be 16 or over. This course is useful for dinghy instructors and race coaches, especially those who are planning on doing a senior instructor course or working in other centres. However, it is just as applicable to those doing safety duties who would like to learn some effective rescue techniques and those who may be looking to volunteer at large events (e.g NSSA)
